Art as resistance
The subversive political "Other"

(four video works):

1.."Warning", 2002, time: 2' 20''
2.."Demanding", 2002, time: 11' 25''
3.."Action"- (New religion patterns), 2002, time: 9'
4.."Memorial", 2002, time: 1' 20''

These four video works shown here are an attempt of a solitary individual to radicalize the problem of fighting against fascism in Yugoslavia. Such a fight doesn't exist at the moment or is at the very low, almost symbolical level, neutralized by displacing the problem from the real life into sphere of electronic medias by numerous, never ending, round tables organized mostly by an "independent" TV station, B 92. These impotent discussions serve only to amuse a certain kind of political voyeurs that call them self "progressive Serbian intellectuals". But the main purpose of such shows is to create and maintain a false image of Yugoslavia (Serbia) as a progressively oriented country with a freedom of speech, concerned about it's recent past. Behind that (TV) image the reality is different. Yugoslavia today is a fascistic state, not much by it's appearance but very much in it's core. It is a country of suppressed, in past wars defeated but never destroyed fascism, now taking a new image of a neo-liberal management. More than 80 % of population is pro-fascistic oriented still sympathizing the "glorious" actions of Yugoslav Army and Police in past wars. More than 30% of people are members of explicit fascistic parties. Most of the parties from the ruling coalition are pro-fascistic oriented. The President of Yugoslavia and the Prime minister are well known by their pro-fascistic orientation. Yugoslavia is hiding and protecting war criminals, guilty for major crimes such as mass killing and genocide. Only forced by international economic partners Yugoslavian authorities accepted to deliver some of them to Hague. On the TV we can see State delegations of war criminals and murderers on their departure from the Belgrade airport far welled by the highest State representatives and ministers as if they were Serbian heroes. This has to be combated!

These video works are an artistic attempt to speak on above issues, to provoke and to frighten all those whom the message, contained in the videos, is meant. My attention is not to argue for senseless violence but to warn that if the collaboration between the State and war criminals and Mafia continues and in case of no other way of legal struggle, all other means (some shown in the videos) could become acceptable.

No amnesty for war criminals and their ideologists!
